hi guys i,ve removed the socket hesd screws ..all of them from the right side cover.. as well as tacho cable from trans.. and foot brake off bike ... as well as the top oil filter... and i,ve been gently tapping the sides hoping it would come lose ... but no nothing.. i think there could be a dowel up near the tacho connection but i cann,t find another 1 is there a trick to getting these off without damaging them ... regards oldbiker
 
Hit it harder with a bigger hammer. Use a block of wood to protect the surface.
 
^^ i used a rubber mallet and was able to whack it pretty hard. no oil leaks so i guess i didn't screw the cover up.
 
Yes, use a big rubber mallet and have at it. One note of caution - hold the kick start shaft in with your thumb as you work the cover off. If you pull it off with the cover, it's return spring will unhook and you'll need to reset it.
