I can remember in the mid 60s to the very early 70s, drooling over the new Bonevilles and BSA Spitfires ( the ones with the GP2 carbs) in Mortlock's window in Hay St Perth. Both are long gone now, Mortlocks went out of business and (real) Triumphs and BSAs fell by the wayside with the Japanese bike invasion. Back then they could be had for around $1200 Aust.
Fond memories of those days: Bonnys and the giant killer Spitfires were two of the fastest things on two wheels.. Norton never interested me for some reason.

This thread got me thinking what people from different decades would b saying about what a real bike looks like or is. I did an image search on 1950, 1940, and 1930.

I know Hay Street very well indeed. I had the good fortune of working out of an office on St George's Terrace 2018 - 2020. I lived on Murray Street. One of the best projects of my working life, I retired and came home during Covid.
