Rear disc brake with spoke wheels.

Like BigJimmy said, Omar's rear wheel conversion will get you a rear disc brake for a wire wheel...

... but the OEM front hub (that the kit is designed for) is narrow between the flanges because the spokes need clearance from the rather massive Yamaha calipers. In other words, if you machine your own disc brake rear hub, you may only be able to move the sprocket side flange outboard. The brake side flange will still have to maintain spoke clearance to the caliper.

The same thing with a Talon hub; its flange spacing is wider because the brake calipers on dirt bikes are much smaller.

If you plan on going to a smaller rear brake caliper, this is a moot point. Otherwise, be sure to consider spoke clearance to that huge OEM rear caliper when you do a custom rear hub. :bike:

Highside's last post on this string was in September 2011.
I reckon he gave up on making the spoke rings the same size as those on a drum rear when he found out the cost of a 9" length of 10" diameter billet aluminum.
Front wheel spoke ring diameter with disk rear bearing, sprocket and disk dimensions would work.
And you could use the stock rear disk hardware as long as you remember the XS650 rear disk is the same smaller diameter as an XS750 disk.
