I'd just replace the shocks. The stockers weren't much when new, 35 years hasn't improved them.

Currently looking at Progressive Suspension Series 14's (14-1283B) on eBay (13"):

These may be same as what 650Central carries. I may end up ordering from MMM and plan to call him for his expert advice on my needs based on body weight, etc.
