Is this what it looks like?
I've never seen this before, and it doesn't exist on the 70-73 models.
The yellow wire would imply that this is for the hi-beam indicator.
The 70-73 models use a different hi-beam indicator socket...

256-83520-00 - Part #6 in the 70-72 parts manual.
Apparently, Google has the wrong picture.
Good luck finding one.
Mine was similarly internally damaged and shorted as well. Had to do a bit of microsurgery to fix it. Be sure to lay its wiring flat to the backside of the tach, very little room in there...
