I have searched the thread on case splitting. What I want to know is does it really matter which case you dissemble from and reassemble into? From what I have been able to discover, it doesn't matter. I need to assemble into the top half am I going to be screwed if I try that?

Crank transmission into the upper case upside down. Make sure you put that dime sized fiber gasket along the egde back in.
Since the two halves are torqued together from the bottom, upside down is the way to go

Ditto with Angus67.

The little alignment nubs for the crank bearings are in the upper case half. Best to lay the crank down onto those, and get the bearings seated in there first...
