springer stem too short.

I got a springer for my XS650. put the new 1" bearing but when I put it all together the stem isn't long enough to put the top nut on. Do I need a longer stem or a different neck stem sleeve. actually looked online for different sizes but nothing. not sure what to do. Ill put some pics to help out. any help would be great thanks.

The stem is too short because the springer was designed to fit a Harley frame. The Harley neck is shorter.
Yes, shorten the nut. Works just fine. Either that or replace the stem with a longer one. Shortening the nut is much easier.

There is NO HOPE what so ever for the springer to ever work on your bike.
Don't waste any more time on it, stock is fine.
I will be more than happy to help you discard of the springer so it woun't be in your way distracting your progress.
