Hi guys,

im pretty new in the forum. I´m from Austria and its near impossible to find an 35mm front end here.
But there are a few SR500 front ends for sale. Is it possible to easily combine the whole sr500 front end with late xs650 brakes, an xs650 spoke wheel and the 84´ frame?

cheers

SR500 rotors were 5mm thick and XS650 rotors were 7mm thick. SR500 had the single Rotor and caliper mounted to the left side and the XS650 had then to the right. The calipers swap over from either model.

You will need to identify what Euro model you have because the problem that can arise is that the Euro Standard model, with 35mm forks from 77 and later, had the smaller rotor mounted to the front wheel and the caliper mount is situated lower down on the forks to accommodate the smaller rotor. These models had twin disk brake front end with twin calipers. This means, if you get a set of SR forks you will also need to get the front rotor as well. Calipers will still swap over

The SR forks are pretty much identical to the 650 ones. You will most likely need stiffer springs though. The SR is a smaller bike and the stock springs are softer.

How about telling us a little about your bike and or some pics as well.

Some feedback on the answers and how or if they helped sovle your problems would be appreciated.

The tubes are pretty much identical BUT the trees (specifically the steering stems) are different. The SR stem is much shorter. I know because I tried to swap some 80 XS650 trees onto my SR frame and they would not fit. I ended up using some SR trees with the XS tubes.
