just checking out my timing chain tensioner and I know that a little movement in and out of the plunger is ok but mine is spinning also, is that normal
Agreed - it may be just fine - BUT - there were several different tensioner designs over the years and so whenever you post a question, it always good practice to state what year of bike you have.
Since you're in there, there seems to be a lot of mixing and matching that's happened from various years/designs, not to mention missing parts, so it would be good to describe here what you have just to check for that kind of thing and straighten it out.
