I'm replacing my old cracked front tire. The one on there now is 3.25/3.60 S19. A friend has a tire that he's giving me that is a 3.25/85 H19. As I understand it the only difference between the sizes (and obviously the speed rating) is that the old tire has roughly a 90% height ratio and the new one an 85% height ratio. Would this be a noticeable difference in size?

The 3.25/90-19 is about 24.85 inches tall, the 3.25/85-19 is 24.525 inches tall.
How old is the tire your freind has? if it's very old you would be better off getting a new tire. If your rear tire is very old you it should be replaced too. The manufacturers reccomend not running a tire six years old. They are more apt to fail. I have some old tires and even have some of the mold tips still on it. and they shimmy and shake enough to scare you.
With a bit if shopping around good tires can be bought at around $125 a pair and $20-$30 bucks each to get mounted. :bike:
