SO I figured since I am building an xs650 for my tcu biker build off entry that maybe this was a good place for it as well......since this is the place to be if you love these bikes! I guess I will just load this up with pics to get you guys up to speed and then I will keep it updated as I go.

looks pretty neat. do you have any kind of bracing inside the tank/backbone to stiffen it? It looks structural from the pics.

Dude, That is lookin sweeeeet! You have some seriuos fab skills there, SIR!
Although, you may want to re-consider the angle of the motor.
Yes, Ive seen some slanted forward more than that, but the oil pick up is in the middle of the bottom.
Maybe they get by with a extra 1/2 quart?

Yes the neck is gusseted internally. The tank is structural and it is made from. 125 plate. The motor sits about 8-10 degrees forward, i plan to take a look around when i tear it down and address any issues i see with that angle...... I just think it looks a ton better that way.

From the research I have done the engine can be titled up to 15 degrees forward without oil problems.

Really radical in a good way!
But, that front end doesn't look right. It just doesn't flow. I think you should fab one of those curvy type springer/girder hybrid forks. And do a bicycle style steering stem/handlebar rig. Mag wheels, instead of spokes, with perimeter brakes.
just my $.02.
Keep up the 'out of the box' build.

:wtf:Is it going to be a reverse air actuated cantilever? Crap! Now I have crazy air suspensions stuck in my head!

Undecided if I have time to build a front end before the deadline......but I WANT TO! If I use this front end I need to either modify or remake the upper tree but my measurements show a 4 inch trail with my planned ride height and the modified upper tree.

REAR SUSPENSION??? I thought about air ride but it seems a little to new school for the rest of my plans....thought about hiding it....nahhhh. I have been toying with the idea of a leaf over the rear tire mounted under the seat. I have never really seen it done that way before, I did some google searching and found one or two bikes. Should be interesting!

I absolutely love this build! Everything about it, the design of the backbone/tank, the wheels, the front end. I think you've got a great handle on what this bike wants to be, and should be. I will definatly be following along.
