UNDER 2 GRAND

This one came in at $2200 - but with a TON of sweat equity...

Paid $500 for the bike and put another $1000 into it. Front fender is there for a reason- I like it there. This is how I prefer the 1980 XS Special 2.

I think every bike I'ver ever built has come in under 2 grand, or close to it.

Does it have to be an XS? This is my "Sweep The Floor" bike. After building two CB500/550's, I realized I had almost enough parts leftover to build another. I think I bought a titled frame with spares ($135), the front wheel ($150), tires, forks ($65), the exhaust ($300...the most expensive thing on the bike), and the seat. I have about ~$1,000-1,100 in the bike. It gets more attention than any of my "shiny" bikes.

Thanks, lots of "sweat equity" in this one also.
Just about every time I ride it, someone offers to buy it.
1100 seems low...

here's my 81 Heritage Special... paid $375 for it. poured a gallon of 93 octane in, put an O-ring on the vacuum petcock, replaced the shift detent spring, and dropped in a hot battery. fired it up and rode the hell out of it this summer..
Total investment: $450

You guys in the states are so lucky - In the UK, we are looking at $2000 for a bit of a basket case! $3500 for half decent

I think I was well lucky with mine then, £225 including delivery-and the engine was running so we only needed the van because the brakes weren't working!!!! It is going to take alot of work to get it running properly and looking nice, I know I'm going to chuck over a grand into it and that's with doing lots of the work myself!

I picked up this for 2 grand. It needed a little tune up but nothing major so far.

I hauled this home a few weeks back, as it looks now I'll have it on the road at about the 1K mark including transfer and tabs, the tank and rear fender/seat are on loan from my 500. I suspect I'll change a few things and and throw more money at it down the road.

It has hugh's pma and a pamco and seems to run well but I'll know for sure when it gets on the road in about a week.
