upside down forks

I think it was the style of the times. Many bikes started with the front disc brakes with the calipers in front in the early '70s. Later they went to the rear ofthe forks.

On early US models the calipers were in front of the fork legs, 74 or 75 Yamaha moved the calipers to the back side of the fork legs. This was supposed to make the steering easer, lightening the steering effort.

They moved the calipers to the rear on the 76 model year. I think they had 34 mm tubes. In 77 they went to 35 mm tubes.
