What is this screw for in my 82 xs650 front rh caliper? I lost mine Thanks!

helps keep the brake pad in place, you need it... Yamaha shows it as part of the pad set not as a separate part, go to a yam dealer they should be able to get or have one

I've had it come included with pads. But the original Yama screw was better because the first 1/8 or so is unthreaded which helps you get the pad on over it - not an easy task - be careful that it's together right. And put a dab of anti-seize on it for next time.
 
Between the 2 x XS650D and XS1100, I have 7 x calipers and have changed all of mine to stainless machine screws. I just place an old nut on the new screw, file the end to match the OE and unscrew nut to clean up the thread.

Has worked a treat every time.
