Hi this is meant to stir you lot up the way I see it if you big bore a engine in increases the cc so when someone describes there bike as a650 bigbore it actually not a 650 its a 706 850 and no longer a xs 650

It seems that some custom boys change the bike so much that its not what they describe it as.

if I put my CBR engine in the frame of my XS650 its no longer a what it was its something else

In my world a yamaha 650 has two pistons that move up and down in unison and it has a cc of 650

A custom builder needs to rebrand the bike stating its true cc in its name .... for instance :thumbsup:its a 850 big bore hardtail skinny tank low ride with a fat back wheel and not just call it a 650 hard tail custom :eek:essentially it Just a Custom bike  and while i am at it  whats the piont in having a hard tail when you put little gay springs under you peddle bike seat.:) some people my say its like me taking my tires off riding on the rims and inflating an inner tube to sit on  don't get it really  Its self defeating. Its like warming up a red hot poker sticking the cold end in your ear so you can burn your hand when removing it:shrug::wtf::doh: ... Sorry to offend you chopper boy but cafe racers are better built to purpose, and are they called Choppers because they are chopped I.E mongrel bikes bits and bobs or were they originally designed to cut trees down.:laugh:

Your help and advise in this matter would be greatly appreciated

All the best from the other side of the pond where bike originally came from and you lot just had horses:laugh::bike: funky

If the engine cases were originally from an XS650 it's an XS650. everything else is just details.
You might remember our daddies are the reason you guys ain't speaking German while putting around on your Japanese bikes! :wink2:
Any vehicle with less than 4 wheels and a roof in a wet or cold climate is loony.

If an XS650 Has a 4th oversize is it still an XS650.............Yes.............

If an XS650 Has a 706 or larger big bore kit in it is it still an XS650 ................Yes .an XS650 with a big bore kit.

If an XS650 frame has a Honda motor in it, is it an XS650....................No it should be used for target practice................ so should the manufacturer..............

If and XS650 motor is used in a chopper/hard-tail is it still an XS650..............Some think so but then refer to paragraph above for advice.................If above advice offends then remove all brakes, lights, indicators, guards, make bike as unsafe as possible and the cagers will do the rest

:agree: Skull and gggGary

In my world a yamaha 650 has two pistons that move up and down in unison and it has a cc of 650

In my world they have 653.:D

IMHO it's the bike's initial identity that serves as the basis for catagorization by the masses, "It started as a 650, but now it's XXXcc".

My '71 IS a 650, 1st oversize pistons, blah, blah, blah.

trolling much?

Hi this is meant to stir you lot up - - -

Hi funky,
and it looks like you succeeded - - -
And FYI, the first motorcycle was built by the French, even if it did have a steam engine.
However, an XS650 stays an XS650 until it's more than 50% something else.

it's an xs650 as long as the cases are xs650 and the steering neck has a xs650 vin number,oh hell it just has the xs650 cases. A VW BUG IS STILL A VW BUG IF THE BODY HAS BEEN CHANGED TO A DUNE BUGGY!!!

Why not move this to the Lounge and we can have at 'er.

I think a dune buggy is a dune buggy, not a bug.

I think Churchill was the right man for that job and that the RAF saved the linguistic integrity of the Brits, not the USA (with respect).

An XS650 is always that until it gets too bowdlerized to be recognized.

pretty simple really. what's the title say?

Hi deadchef,
not necessarily, I knew a guy back 'ome who's 500cc BMW was registered as a 125cc BSA.
Over 'ere all the title tells you is what bike the steering neck came from.

Gary, you better check your history. It was the Battle of Britain in 1940 that stopped Hitler from making an invasion of England. The fighting was done by RAF squadrons and one RCAF squadron. Canada was the only Commonwealth country to have a squadron in the Battle of Britain.

The USA had no squadrons, because they were not yet in the war.

I agree with this took my bike across to piont du hoch and then back down to all the landing beaches got nothing but admiration and respect for you daddies . really God bless them

with regards to the french really they don't count if they did it right your daddies would not have to help out .....

You cannot be serious man :banghead::banghead:No come on its nothing to do with the casings:eek: as the last post says its in the question:thumbsup: if its bigbored its no longer a 650 is it come on admit it...
if i stuck the casings of my xs650 on the side of my car it makes it a xs650 then or even better i put the engine in a golf buggy :yikes:
All im saying is that an xs650 with a bigbore or whatever bore becomes a xs whatever bore or cc surley so by default it is no longer a xs650 ....:banghead::banghead:

All the best Funky and thanks for the smile please carry this on there is a serious side to me .........Somwhere

OP was baiting the yanks I was baiting right back. :wink2: Battle of Britain was a wondrous thing but it didn't WIN the war. US industrialists building unimaginable quantities of "good enough" war material delivered free to any Allied country that could use it WON the war. We even sent a few boys to help use it. Simplistic, but the gist of the eventual victory.
Oh to be an XS650 it has to somewhat resemble a motorcycle. A 650 motor in a lawn tractor isn't an XS650.
Yeah if we are going to re-fight world war II we better take it to the lounge :D

Gary, your first post was inflammatory to say the least. Its an historical fact that Hitler had to cancel the invasion of England in 1940, due to the RAF and to a lesser extent the RCAF, kicking the crap out of the German air force.

Germany was never again able to attempt another invasion.

Dont forget the impact of Russia.

The US didn't directly enter Europe until June 1944. Hitler began fighting Russia June 1941, so thats 3 years after Germany tried to take Russia. By then Germany was already in serious trouble on the eastern front. The Russian's spilt more blood than anyone defeating the Nazis.

Now tell me again how this relates to mechanical care of XS650s?

I love it :thumbsup:As to the free help that's ball:mad: we paid for the the so called liberty ships I think the last payment was about 15 years ago. there is no favors in politics dudes or war theres always a price
What bought the USA into the war was pearl harbour and winstons was a clever man but was depressed at the time and had run out of Fluoxatine 40mg or as you know it Prosac,,, he needed a rest so making the yank leader supreme commander of allied forces knowing full well that once the good old USA gets in the game they would go MOWtown on those Nazies :D:thumbsup:
Also as mentioned the ruskys Hitler was clearly an idiot opening a second front with those bad boys cos if anyone thinks they are going to take the Ruskies on a man to man basis you are deluded:doh::doh: And then you had the dogy Japs who waited until we were all almost wiped out then came in for the kill :banghead::banghead:..... The point is that we all did our bit we won and lost:wtf::wtf: and trust me if one of us did not get in the fight we would all be speaking Russian or Japanese If the USA did not do there stuff in Iwoejima pilalu and all those other island :yikes:they drop the bomb cos they knew they were running out of men and there was too many of those sushi eating dudes :yikes: good bye Fish and chip and good old Apple pie Hello Sushi and vodka.:mad:
