I kinda eyeballed mine when i cut it. Left the cases in so nothing would shift. Then i made the final cuts. I might add that mine didn't fit perfect since it was a 73 and all. Just a fun year.
That's another thing. I took motor out to clean it up. But should I reinstall it before I weld hardtale on it? Or I guess I could put metal bracing like a triangle enipgine mount to engine mout
Def brace it with something. That backbone will spring if you cut the frame loose among other things. Also when welding the tail on bolt a piece of tubing between the axle plates. I can't remember the proper width. I think it's 8.5 inches.
Don't cut anything till you get the hartail. Then follow the directions with the hardtail. Don't cut without the engine or some bracing to keep the frame from moving around.
