Oooh.....I think you’ve got a nice looking bike coming together! That’s a pretty rare tank, I like the shape of it!

I probably paid too much for it, but it looks to be pretty rust free, Thanks for the compliments!

Designed the "manufacturer" and "model" emblems.

The name of my fictitious motorcycle manufacturer is "Innamoratta," a play on the Italian word "Inamorata" meaning "one you are passionate about, usually a mistress or lover,"

The model is "Veltro GT." Veltro means "greyhound" in Italian.

Also ordered my hydraulic clutch mechanism.

Very smart indeed - I love it!

I hope you'll forgive me, but how about a little Italian flag decal or colour flash to finish off the Innamoratta logo...

BTW - I may be all wet here, but this is the first instance of a person inventing a fictitious OEM on this Forum as far as I am aware - well done indeed Wordman!

Vision, eh? And my psychiatrist called it schizophrenia. Go figure. :yikes:

Work on the garage has progressed. Got the wall behind the bench primed and painted. Today I hope to get the shelves cut and installed.

    Thanks guys!

More work on the garage (it's going to be great to be able to work here)...

    Went through boxes, stocked shelves:

I like that bank of drawers you’ve got going there! I might have to do something like that.

I've been considering the following (any thoughts?):

    • DeLorto's rather than VM34s?
    • I was thinking of going with SRX600 wheels (lighter, tubeless tires).

I love Dellorto carbs and would definitely consider them. I've not seen much posted on their use so you would probably be pretty much on your own as far as dialing them in goes. But, I think they come pre-jetted so should be at least close.

Very ambitious build! I’m looking forward to seeing it come together!

I ran them on my '69 Bonneville for quite a while. They're pretty easy to work on, and the accelerator pump makes starting a breeze.

The bike came with spoked wheels, but I'm thinking I want to run wheels that can take a tubeless tire. Spokes look beautiful, and I absolutely love them, but tubes go flat almost instantly when punctured, and cannot be plugged. Of course, plugging a motorcycle tire isn't a great idea, but it can get you home without having to dismantle the bike in the side of the road. To this end, I bought a set of Yamaha RZ350/SRX600 wheels off Ebay. I think they'll look great, but I'll keep the spokes in reserve, "just in case."

I don't recall if I posted a picture of the seat. It's arrived, and looks just like the photo on the L.P. Williams website.

I've also purchased the rear fender "end" from an XS850. I will need to do some modifying to make this work, but it appears the mounts will actually line up with the XS650 rear fender mounts. This will allow me to have painted fenders on both the front and the rear without having to strip the chrome off the original XS650 fender.

How do the valves operate on the buccaneers and some of the other twins I see picture that don't have the cam were it would be on the xs? Where is the cam on those?

  19. Wordman

    Wordman XS650 Enthusiast

The cams are high up in the crankcase, and operate the valves via pushrods. 6c82e71dc4b8b49acf58757e94132beb.jpg
