XS650 Brush Inspection (Brown Tab Missing)

When pulling the brushes for inspection I noticed that one brush was missing the square brown tab that goes between the spring and the metal tab. Does anyone know the purpose of this tab? Does it provide some kind of insulation?? Can I reinstall it and be on my way?

Yes, they protect the copper braided wire from abrasion from the end of the spring.



There's a tiny slot atop the plastic brush holder body for the brown insulator to fit into...
