Xs650 overheating

Hi. I dont know much abt motorcycles but my dad is really upset with his xs650 overheating and he tried everything to fix it but nothing has worked and i feel bad cus he loves his bike and he just wants to drive it down the road and he can't. Why is it overheating and running so rich? Please help me i want to make my dad happy

What are the symptoms that lead to the conclusion it's overheating? What model year is it and has it been modified? What is the recent history of the bike and what repairs have tried, what has been tested?
