Yet another chop and Intro

Hello all. My name is Ryan and Ive been on here for about a year or so reading, chiming in every so often, reading, buying, reading, selling and well......Reading. Now of course in between all of this I have been building. A little here and a little there. This is my first mechanical/metal endeavor, so quite a bit of tools had to be bought and there was that learning curve thing. Was stalled for awhile when my son Sawyer was born but, now back on track. I stumbled into the 650 world by accident while searching for modifications for my 2006 Triumph Bonneville T100. How that happened I can't remember exactly but, 2 650s and an extra engine later......Well here I am. Before I begin I want to take a moment and express my gratitude to not just the members here but, the 650 world in general. The freely given wealth of knowledge and the sheer talent of its followers have made this experience quite simply the greatest, most frustrating, expensive and rewarding hobby I have ever had. I will also add that the ideas and direction of this build are slightly modified complete rip offs of yours:thumbsup: Being a neat nick, I did'nt want to start a build thread from the start because lets be honest....That shit would take too long. I think I'm far enough along to not bore you. So without further ado.........

It begins with a 78SE. By all appearances, this bike was put together with a hammer, a #3 Phillips screwdriver, a monkey wrench and a spork. However, it kicked over on the first try on a very cold Dec morning (despite some black smoke) and it ran well enough. The bike did have some things going for it , wiesco 80mm pistons (Confirmed), pamco and dual brakes.

Tc Bros Tail. Raked to 4" over. Not into the mags so I bought some H.S.s from my buddy Matt at a decent price.

Cut out the hubs and got to cleaning and polishing. Laced the rear to 18" with a Firestone champion deluxe and the front to 21" with an Avon speed master. I also polished the rotor and drilled a nice progressive pattern on it. Gordon Scott fork brace for stability and cool factor

Went through three tanks.... Peanut, sportster and honda shadow. After seeing Spades Thug life build (My absolute favorite 650), I'm saving for a cole foster

After tooling on this for awhile, the direction or idea for this is to be as simple as I can get with added touches hear and there to give it my own signature. A mostly metal theme with brass accents throughout. All welds have been filed smooth for a nice flowing look when powdered and a sick ass wetter

This is where I'm at today. Currently waiting on fender from 7 metal west and Gordon Scotts new fat pipes. I'm really stoked about the pipes.

Me too. The heritage specials are my favorites. So much so, their going on my 81 as well. Thanks Irish for the hook up

Got the caliper striped, beaded and polished. Took the extra time and ground off all casting marks. The polished aluminum turned out nice. Just going to clear it, put in new guts and hardware and done

Compressor took a shit and I'm waiting on parts so now is as good a time as any to sort out the the electrical box. I picked up an early 1900s Pyrene brass fire extinguisher off Ebay that I think will do the trick. Also scored some vintage cloth covered wire. Its orange with red and black tracers

thats so bad ass im getting ready to do mine i noticed the sand blasting cabinet in background im taking you made that? thast awsome i also noticed the fork tubes were way short in the earlier pics did u get longer ones? or did u cut the neck and reweld it? for the rake

Thanks 4stroke. I have a thread on here somewhere showing the blast cab build. I had the neck raked to a +4 over so I had to get new (used) tubes.

Oh Yeah!!! Santa (UPS guy) brought me a gift today. Thanks Scott. These look amazing
