Seeing all the great builds here definitely raised the bar for me. Thats good and bad I suppose. I just want to get it done but, I know if I dont take the time to do it to the best of my ability ill be disappointed in the end. Thanks everyone for the comments. Carbon when I saw the seat I knew I had to have it. Was at one time thinking of putting some nose art on the tank but, didnt want it to be a theme bike. Trying to make this as simple as I can while re purposing old items and giving them new leases on life. My grinding and polishing skill are certainly improving

Got some work done this morning. Finished 1 carb. Polished and ready to go. The velocity stacks from BarnYardCustoms are very well made and look pretty damn cool. Didnt feel like doing the other so this evening I finished the head light. Very happy with how it turned out. The main body is polished and Ill leave the front cover a brushed look. The base is a little darker brass color so when the amber headlight gets here, I think this is going to look pretty sweet assembled

It's interesting to me just how intricate each of the parts are - I know you are very meticulous and pretty much a perfectionist, so I know it will turn out to be beautiful!

Finished up the Carbs today. Really like the look of the Velocity Stacks. Some minor polishing and they will be ready to mount

Well after reading the thread on vibration and knowing more now than I did when I rebuilt the engine, I have decided to do the re phase, 5th gear overdrive and 750 big bore upgrades. Decided on Mikes Big fin big bore because of a couple of broken fins. Tore the top end completely down today and thank god I did. I was looking down into the lower end and just barely saw a piece of a drill bit inside . At a glance it appears to be an 1/8" bit about an inch long. It was rebuilt by PO and it did run well aside from a little smoke. I only ran it around the block a couple of times but I'm sure eventually I would have had some issues. Good thing I have a spare engine and if I get too desperate, an 81 that runs great. Fuck me there goes another grand and change. The good news is my amber bulb came in for the Unity spot light . Its the little things. Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

Yea a rephase would be nice... but what is this about the 5th gear overdrive... Could you tell me? it is a "Highway gear"? Wouldn''t hurt....lol

Thanks, I wasn't awear of this product... in the product info it refers to part 05-0857... which is a 22Tooth 5th gear with engagement dogs.... so is this because you should replace the dogs while you are at it.... kind of expencive if you have to buy the whole gear as well... Am I missunderstanding something?
Total would be $130 plus shippment. Hmmm
