I'm wondering if you have a firm purpose for this bike. The front end has been lowered in the triple clamps, but the bars are quite high. Rearsets and cafe-style seat, but the rubber seems geared more towards dual purpose...
My suggestion would be to raise the front end by lowering the fork...

Wiring ain't for the timid, but if you're up to it, definitely DIY! You'll have the most intimate knowledge of the bike that way...
Photo 4 shows a monoshock swingarm. Not an XS, which has two rear shocks.
Tank shape at the bottom rear isn't XS, and rear fender is not XS. Bradshaw's probably right - maxim, prolly 400cc?
