I will take it apart again tomorrow and maybe unsnap it and try to retighten-reshape it then snap it back on. I was also thinking about using 2 bolts on either side of the spring in the vise where its indented on each side in order to keep the lower shape of the spring if you understand what I mean.

Well I got it apart and squeezed it in the vise, made sure I didnt oversqueeze it. Put it back together again and still the same noise. Guess I will have to look at buying a new spring.

I see garyr isnt online and Im tearing mine down. If I may ask you a question 5Twins - I see that gary has the spring still on the gear in the vice. As Im going to re tighten my original spring, do I need to take it off the gear or do the same as the pic with the spring on the gear and tighten...

Ever since I bought this bike when starting electronically it made like a chattering noise(not grinding). I recently had my son put a new starter in and its the same noise. Question is the sound normal? By the way it always starts no problem just makes chattering noise.
