    Shifter very sticky

Im an amature welder at best but the plan in my head is to cut the splined part off of what's left of the shifter and then weld on arm that's longer and makes the shift linkage more parallel. I may even take the piece to a machine shop that is more capable. Im great at welding steel for frames...

    Shifter very sticky

Yeah, its stock, just cut down to clear the tail pipe. I plan on finding some round steel from home depot, weld and bend an extension to see if leverage is what I need. Its that doesnt work it sounds like I will be taking the primary cover off to check the shift forks. Thanks shotgunjoe!

    Shifter very sticky

Also, quick question for you welder guys. What kind of metal is that shift arm? Im not good at spoting metal, but it looks like some kind of cast? Is it weldable?

    Shifter very sticky

Its actually an old sportster seat. I personally believe the length of the clutch arm is to short, and I am going to try and make a piece to make it longer first. As far as the joints, they are $15 a piece joints made for go cart steer linkage. Real high quality stuff. Onto the clutch...

    Shifter very sticky

I rebuilt a 77 XSD a couple years back and have loved tooling around town on it. I have TC bros forward controls and some home made linkage. From day one the shifter has always been very hard to shift, Im talking probably 10-15 pounds of pressure to go up or down. Ive got a manual but havent...

    flip the jugs

I just did this in my head but if you were to set the cam 180 out the timing would line up perfect.. no? As far as the cooling, if you had an oil cooler and did do to much stop and go you should be just fine. But these motors can take some serious abuse. When I first got my XS I had no oil...

    Another failed MikesXS Part

Although Mikes is an asset to the community, a lot of his parts are cheap. Ive had 2 clutch cables break, almost everything that Ive bought chrome rusted. But, in a pinch, mikes almost always has the parts!

    HP On rebuild

Agreed... But part of the fun is pushing the limits. Your right, if I wanted a fast bike stock I would buy a crotch rocket. I just want a bike no one would think is fast and blow them away. I wasnt thinking about a CNC head.. Whats it cost to have someone port and polish a head now and days?

    HP On rebuild

Im considering what kind of horsepower I can make with a big bore rebuild. First, how much hp does one make stock and a can you give me a rough estimate on how much horse power I can make with a big bore kit + hot cams + polish and port. I am just looking to do something new to my bike to...

    I just bought a Harley

Travis! That is a a bad ass panhead. It does look similar to my bike, and gives me ideas to improve my own style. Thanks for sharing. Ive always wondered how it feels to ride a bike with that shock mounted seat. Its gotta be a wild ride!

    I just bought a Harley

Hell no Danno! Its a great look! And I cant even take credit for it. The only thing I dont like about the black white scheme is it looks similar to cop cars.... and I am a professional firemen, so I am getting bashed at work for it. lol.

    I just bought a Harley

cretinxs81 - sweet ride. I love silver/grey on autos. It always look clean! I like the front fairing too. Kind of a miniature version of the large batwings? Travis - I actually bought the bike from the second owner, which is why I got such a good deal.. He really didnt know what he had...

    I just bought a Harley

Teebs - $9500 for a EFI Road King even with 50k on the clock is a good deal. The mechanic that I took it to said that he would have easily given 12k for it. He said it has been extremely well maintained and cared for. Its just like anything else... if you beat it to shit its not going to...

    I just bought a Harley

Wow, didnt realize I was going to start such a heated debate! I was just posting some pics of my new bike for the guys here that know me. Ive been around here and 650rider for about 3 years. Teebs - I know where your coming from, but dont devalue anything just because you cant afford it or...
