Thank you 5twins. I installed new cam chain.
Both questions from original post were answered with the new cam chain. Time to throw it back together and in the frame!!
Question 1: Does this adjuster look too far threaded in to be considered flush as required per manual.
I have the later tensioner style on my 78 with just the acorn cap, no locknut.
My cam is lined up at 12 with mark and chain still has just little bit wiggle on top of cam.
Pistons are tdc...
This is what I have came up with. Have couple of questions..
- Is the red/white wire from the solenoid on its own fuse necessary?
- If it can.. what amp fuse should I run?
- Does the coil terminal make sense? (from kill switch and from ignition together)
Doing a top end rebuild on my 72 xs motor.
I bought the mikes xs Athena gasket kit and all the goods, blah blah but..
I would like some of your guys wise opinions on where you should use (or to not use at all) on an xs rebuild:
blue Loctite
silver anti-seize
permatex gasket sealer
permatex rtv...
What is your guys opinion on the best Manuals? I have been an xs650 owner since april and am finally ready to start my bobber build. Money wasn't a problem but at the same time bills always come every month....sigh. I am really not a noob when it comes to bikes since I have ridden motocross...
