For Sale - XS Engine, Mounts, Starter, Complete Front End, Rear Wheel

All of the parts are from a 1975. I am currently on the fence about selling the engine, as I am running into issues with the engine in my project bike. I will make a decision as soon as I can. Thanks, Bob B

Buying without a title: My experience

I finally got an answer from the Town Clerk. Hew Hampshire will only accept a New Hampshire VIN Verification Form, filled out by a New Hampshire Police Officer. As I said in an earlier post, the Officer is supposed to physically verify the numbers on the frame, however most of the time, I just...

    L/Cylinder Won't Run at idle

Yup, definately running lean AT IDLE on the left cylinder. I will compare float heights between the 2 carbs tonight, and maybe put in the jets that have been soaking all day in carb cleaner. I will also remove the brass plug covering the mixture screw to verify the setting and also blow it out...

Buying without a title: My experience

I just did a 1964 Norton Atlas that was a frame and wheels, so I imagine a bare frame is doable. I can always point to boxes in my garage and say "there's the rest of the bike".

That's a good question. I'll hafta call the Town Clerk tomorrow morning and ask her.

Buying without a title: My experience

DaddyG et al, I don't mind registering bikes for others, because I like to see old bikes back on the road. I usually get $100 for doing this, which includes getting the VIN Verification Form and then getting it registered. I then "sell" it back to you, and you get a valid NH registration and a...

    L/Cylinder Won't Run at idle

I've swapped the plugs around with the same result. Yes, I synched the carbs. Yes, the carb is getting fuel, because after putting the petcock on prime, I've removed the drain plug on the bowl and plenty of fuel runs out. The cylinder will start to fire as I give it more throttle, or if I cover...

Buying without a title: My experience

In New Hampshire, if the vehicle is at least 15 years old, all you need to get it registered is a Billl of Sale and a VIN Verification Form. I call the local PD(think, Mayberry, RFD), they come to my home, verify and run the VIN,and if(when) it comes back clean, they issue me the VVF. I then...

    L/Cylinder Won't Run at idle

All, I have an XS650 Special, manufactured 7/79, s/n 2F0-204981. I thoroughly cleaned and blew out both carbs, verifying the jets are original, and after reassembly, the left cylinder will not run at idle unless I partially cover the mouth of the carb with my hand. I even tried a different left...

    Carb Advice Needed(I Think)

I have downloaded the manual. Thanks. Teardown will commence soon, and I might give the carbs to a buddy who has an ultrasonic cleaner at work. Of course I'll remove all rubber and plastic bits beforehand. I also confirmed the manufacture date as 7/79 on the steering head, and the numbers match...

    Carb Advice Needed(I Think)

The butterflys are synched. What I have not been able to determine is whether or not the slides are moving at the same time. I'll hafta get someone to twist the throttle while it's running so I can watch the slides. It was also suggested to me that a bad CDI unit could cause this, and I just got...

    Carb Advice Needed(I Think)

All, I have a 1979 Special, and left cylinder will not fire until about 1/4 throttle. Then it seems to run fine and pull the same as the right cylinder. I have cleaned the carbs several times, pulling the jets, etc. I have not pulled the carb tops to look at the diaphragms. Should I? I also just...
