I switched to a Barnett clutch some 20 years ago and had the shop keep the original stock Yamaha springs. I have carpal and did not want to deal with the heavier pull. Seems to work but i am pretty easy on the throttle.
I do not believe that steel or aluminum or a combination of both is going make a bit of difference. I used the same 1-piece 7075AL rod that TwoMany used with a Heiden hydraulic clutch and the expansion rate made no difference in clutch operation. The Heiden hydraulic clutch made a big difference...
At 16 years old I had a 1967 Plymouth GTX with that same 440 motor. The car was quicker than a Hemi up to around 60 mph. I will never forget passing gear in that car. You would stomp down on the gas pedal and the Carter AFB would open up and the torqeflite would down shift and .. you could not...

Final edge cut.
Here is the bike with the shocks installed.
The bike is much easier to get on the center stand. I do not know about the side stand! The bike really leans over on the side stand...
The progressive 12 series purchased from 650 Central are offset like 5twins shows and the shocks fit fine. However with the 16 inch Fat Special rear tire and the change in the geometry there is not enough clearance to fit in the tire. The tire is rubbing against the chain guard. Looks like I...
