What they left out is there was a repair tag tied to them that when translated said ready for pick up on Wednesday!

Stuff my dog says; on second thought I'll just build a race car

If you don't need a fully threaded bolt I would think any good hardware store would have a bolt for much less.

    Interesting motorcycles, not XS650

I had a chance to take a short demo ride on a K75 back when, for a short time, the local Harley dealer was also a BMW dealer. Harley apparently put a stop to that! Same day I also to a ride on a K100. Where the K75 was as smooth as an electric motor the K100 was a bit on the buzzy side. I...

    Real Estate Update

Often wish I had put the 3 inches of Styrofoam insulation under the slab in my 3 bay unattached garage along with putting the lines for the in-floor heat before the slab was poured.

    curtiss Museum Tomorrow 8-13-22

Missed hearing about it this year, been a couple times over the years. Actually a bike I owned for sometime was used as a display there one year. Guy running the show had bought an old 500 Triumph from me a year before and he used it as a display of a "barn find" waiting for restoration! That...

Is it my turn? Anything to do with lathes, mills and other shop tools

We had one very close to that one Beags64 posted at the shop at the quarry. It was a bit on the worn out side but if what you were cutting did not need to be that precise it was okay. Nice thing is you could clamp, say a 4 inch angle iron, in the vice turn it on and walk away. It would sit there...

    Real Estate Update

I get a kick out of comments made on some of the home improvement shows, like when they comment on a house being large lot then they say it is 1/4 acre! In the picture I posted right about where the "Google" is near the bottom would be our rear border. Then if you draw a line straight at the...

    Real Estate Update

Same here. I can understand somethings like not mowing lawn at 5:00AM, but when they tell you what color and style mail box you have that's BS! Despite having some problems with nearest neighbor we are lucky to not, at least when leaves are on trees, to be able to see another house from our...

Electric Vehicles, Hybrids...Battery tech... Land Air and Sea. Let's See 'em.

I have to wonder if after enough of these self driving cars are on the road if someone is going to figure out how the cause them to crash? Just one idea I have thought about. Pick a moderate curve in the road maybe with a good drop off. Take a roll of tar paper out and cover up the lines on the...

What the Heck Is It ?

Well if my dad was still around it would probably not have helped to ask him despite him growing up on a farm in Minnesota, don't thing they had any of those new fangled things there! Milking was done by hand with a bucket and a stool! Heck! when brother and I visited the family farm in 1961...

Electric Vehicles, Hybrids...Battery tech... Land Air and Sea. Let's See 'em.

Remember the "Good Old Days" when all you had to worry about was some drunk coming home from the bar late at night?

I could possibly see a powder coated frame hide cracks but unless the plating was very heavy I'd be surprised it would hide a flaw.

Surprise, Panic and Reflex from an Electric Starter

Yep a bit of corrosion and many starts over the years and the disc inside a solenoid can tend to weld itself to the contacts! I might have beat Jim but 10:02pm is past my bed time!

Stuff my dog says; on second thought I'll just build a race car

Same here I think I could do a better job welding if I could actually see that puddle. I'm dealing with just your basic steel welding with small Lincoln wire feed and the gas attachment. Not trying to build anything fancy mostly just fixing things like worn out mower decks or patching up things...
