I am 66 and live in Oregon and have loved the looks of this era of Yamahas having purchased new a 1971 R5 Yamaha and a 1972 RT2 360 enduro. However my best purchase was in 1979 when I was in the Navy in Connecticut making $7500 a year and spent $4000 on a new 1979 Honda CBX.

I am going to Evaporust the tank (minor rust) then rebuild the petcocks, install the carbs and a new battery and give it a go. I can't believe it but it looks like the original seat cover but it needs new foam. Will post progress.

I just picked up a 1972 XS2. I have been working to this point for years, getting my shop built, developing skills and sourcing a project. I had 2 XS650 engines and various parts and was getting close to starting a high quality street tracker. Then... the wildfires came through Oregon and burned...
