I removed the stock taillight. Then I trimmed the fat around the edges of the bracket (to match the contour of the Model A taillight). And then welded the taillight to the stock bracket. Picture doesn't do it justice (to me). Maybe you could do something similar with a Model T taillight...
so on closer inspection my main fuse was blown. I replaced it and the bike fired up no problem. but after maybe 30 seconds of the bike running the headlight dummy light started to flicker, and now its staying on solid so I'm guessing its only a matter on time before I blow another fuse...
1978 XS... Recent mods include added sporty tank, 30's model a taillight, hong kong signal lights... Put on maybe an hour worth of trouble free riding since then until this morning.
Went out for a ride this morning. Bike started and ran good. Once I headed back home the bike started loosing...

I am having a similar problem, I switched from the stock turn signals to some hong kong mini bullet signal lights (not led). When I turned the bike on to check to see if the signal lights are working each one just stays on solid.

Another note of maybe interest. The spark plug on the left side that I replaced was very black'ish, while the spark plug on the right was more of a tan... After I replaced the plugs, I went around the block pulled the plugs out and sure enough on the new plugs the one on the left was starting to...

I purchased a 1978 xs650 this Friday. I rode it home, it was about a 130km or 80 miles from home.... I was told the carbs were recently cleaned, and a new battery was also recently replaced... After I took the bike out for a bit, money was exchanged, the bike plated and I hit...
