    Sachse (German made) digital ignitions

A buddy of mine is now distributing Sachse custom mapped digital ignition setups for a whole bunch of vintage bikes from the extremely obscure (NSU, anyone?), to the ubiquitous and lovable (CB's, XS' etc) and everything in-between (Ducati bevels, round-cases, singles, etc). Yes, this is a...

Make Offer - '76 model stock stuff for sale (bars, taillamp, signals, gauges, etc)

Pictures upon request, everything's in decent shape with patina expected for the age. Make an offer, I'd like to get these items out of the garage. Thanks! Handlebars - Clubman, black, about 1 month old. Scratches where you put the stock controls on (from the stock controls); if you're going to...

    tail-light stays brite

Brake light/switch work? If not, it sounds like you've got the wiring reversed and both filaments are fired up

So what's the trick to keep the license plate from cracking?

I'm really glad to see I'm not alone with this little issue, haha. Thanks for the tips, fellas.

So what's the trick to keep the license plate from cracking?

I had an old KTM 620 single that did the same thing as my XS is doing now that I've gone with a shorty aftermarket license tag bracket. It's vibrating the plate so bad it's breaking around the mounts. I tried rubber o-rings, loose zip ties, and a solid metal-to-metal mount on the KTM to no...

    dead starter

THey're super easy to kickstart too once you get 'em running right. The hot spark stuff does wonders.

what rear tire on an 18" alloy rim

I've got a 120 on the bike and it handles good; the roadrace guys actually run a 130 rear/110 front on 1/2" wider than stock 18" rims f/r. 120 out back on a stock rim is fine.

Anybody determined what (if?) other rearsets work on XS?

    Great stuff, thank you!!

Anybody determined what (if?) other rearsets work on XS?

Yeah that would be awesome if you could take pics! I don't mind race pattern I ran it that way on my WERA bikes.

Anybody determined what (if?) other rearsets work on XS?

Jim I was actually reading up on your old posts last night, it did seem to be a challenge to get the linkages set up. This is a daily rider for me so it's gotta be right without too much fumbling - I'll check out the link. Thanks!

Anybody determined what (if?) other rearsets work on XS?

I'm having trouble justifying the big money for aftermarket rearsets. Wondering if, perhaps, by some freak of engineering/luck a stock set from another bike fits. Or is close enough to fab up a couple adapter plates for. FZR? CBR? Thruxton? Gotta be something out there on ebay that's close...

81 w/ lack of power to the coils, ugh

Gotta love a guy who's in the garage firing up a bike at 12:44AM and hootin' and hollerin'. Don't worry about the neighbors - congrats! I just got done waxing my bike. What the hell's wrong with us?

    Running High octane 100++

Yep what bluebiker said, mixing a little in with 93 will generally clean up throttle response and the bike will run slightly cooler. When I built my last race bike (modern GSX-R750) I ran it in on the dyno and tested power and temp with 93, Sunoco 100 (most race tracks have pumps), and VP U4...
