Hello! Bringing an old thread to life--
I ordered these UNI filters but received one size too large. Need the 2" ones, you are spot on. Will the intake be effected too much if I use tubing -or something heat resistant- to make em fit snug around the intake? As long as I don't block any air...
SHE RUUUUUNS. I was alone at the time and I almost ran around the block looking for someone to hug. THANK YOU for all for your replies and your time! Do I get to make an acceptance speech?!
It was a short or unintended ground somewhere I think. I sealed up new connections, changed some...
I don't need to use a nylon screw do I? I have the reg/rec combo on my '72 (the proper one for old machines).
When I kick start it it just blows the 20A fuse. There's power through the circuit cause I'll replace the fuse and it'll pop, can't tell if it was a backfire through the carb the...
Limey! Blimey! thanks for this, just got mine in the mail. Does one have to add a second ground from base to battery (instructions say so) IF we ground the green to frame (as you suggest we do).
*Edit: ..and I mean to battery!! Anyhow, from what I'm reading - improved grounding always...
Leo, or 2Many -- can you explain what is going on in the coils/condensers box there (in Leo's attached diagram). My bike seems to have 2 condensers.
On my bike it looks like one grey and orange are [grounded?] under the seat to the battery box. I'm not sure if that's what it is, but they're...
Heroic. Thanks for those attachments, so much info out there you've both certainly helped me filter down.
Pamco Pete talks about fuses and wire gauge there, I think that might help me optimize the new harness. Hope that makes sense too.
Now to continue stripping out the old parts. Gracias.
I'm seeing in this attached diagram that there is just one fuse: Is that because of the various relays and regulators with the old wiring?
The diagram I referenced above, earlier, has 3 or 4 fuses protecting the lights.. for safety, I assume. Not sure which diagram to go with.
I see...
Thanks 2Many.
Do you recommend I go that route with the retrofitted reg/rec combo? Are there other changes I should be aware of, or is it as simple as properly installing that part and setting up that wiring. Asking before I pull the trigger on that purchase! If that does lead to...
Leo, thank you for the responses! Will test for spark that way next chance I get. Testing with my meter has improved since I replaced the battery, and it has a calibration function so that has helped too. If continues to give mixed results I will replace.
I will remove that rotten piece...
Hi friends.
Previous owner removed indicators, horn, and "simplified" the electrical without removing anything. Also, I think many of the wires are original (1972 xs2) but really I don't know.
The bike has been running rather well for about a year (new bs38 carbs even), but after...
Quick question : found this looking for spark plug solutions.
The Autolite 63s are still resistor plugs (correct?). While the BP7ES are not resistor (which I am looking for as well). Why are they interchangeable if at all?
I can order them online, but still no dice here. (I'm in a smallish city on Vancouver Island BC, maybe I need to go to Vancouver and see).
I found both BP6ES and *corrected: B8ES but no 7s frustratingly enough. According to my manual some XS models do run on BP8ES stock.
