    XS charge ignition problems.

The bike was put back to points to get it running again. I have three (!) to sell this spring, so didn’t want to invest in another electronic ignition unless the buyer wants one. My current build for myself is a 750 rephase, and I’m using the Pandemonium ignition system. We will see how that...

    XS charge ignition problems.

My XS charge story….. the red one. That uses the stock advancer…. Upon installation the bike started and I was in the process of setting the timing, when strange things began happened intermittently. The timing light would show intermittent spark and obviously the bike would misfire. If I sat on...

    Let's See The XS's

No. The cylinders are original. Unlike the dual disc setup that I had been wanting to do for some time. Honestly, those old discs and calipers are um… quite heavy. But they look and work well. But definitely a ton of unsprung weight there.

    Let's See The XS's

I own several XSs, and have built many others. I sell a couple each year and love them all. The red XS2 (72) is a restomod. A rephased XS2 (type 256) engine with later XS headpipes and stainless quiet core mufflers. Mikuni vm34 carbs and pamco rephased ignition using stock advancer. The teal XS...

A closer look at Heiden Tuning engine breather

Great pics. What’s interesting is that really… all you need is the reed plate section sandwiched between the (gutted) stock breather outlet and head shell. But the whole Heiden package looks very nice.

    Ignition

And oh yeah, the Newtronic ignition produces a surprisingly powerful spark given the fact that it is using stock points coils. Apparently because optical sensors allow more coil charge time between firing as compared with mechanical points.

    Ignition

Hi guys, Newtronic systems are still available (Yambits) U.K. and are not that expensive. I installed one in a customer bike (gt550) and it was quite easy to install. They use the stock points coils and basically replace the points with an optical sensor and an electronic “switch box”. There is...
