Itchy Boots Fan Boi's (Spoilers Ahead)

Imagine wrestling a 1200 BMW in those muddy slick conditions. Frankly, I think she is a bit too small for that bike. She can barely hold it up and straddle it. It looks like she needs a step stool just to climb on it. Maybe lower it a bit?

'78 3 prong flasher relay help needed

Thanks for the great suggestion, everyone! The battery is brand new, all bulbs are correct wattage and are clean and working. I'll go back and check all the grounds again. Come to think of it the upper mount is off due to us getting the condenser off, so not sure if that needs to be installed...

'78 3 prong flasher relay help needed

I just realized my "video" did not work. Apologies. I'm going to try again. Here is a link for YouTube. Buzzing blinker relay

'78 3 prong flasher relay help needed

Well, I opened it. Very simple. Cut back the plastic wrap and bend back the 3 small crimps and the works slide right out. Here is a video and you can see what it's doing. All the internals look brand new. No broken wires, contacts seem clean and corrosion-free. I'm sure I shouldn't be...

'78 3 prong flasher relay help needed

The stock 3-prong flasher is partly working. When activated it buzzes and turns on each side when selected but won't blink. I can get it to blink once by tapping it, but that is it. This bike sat(inside) for 30 years so I assume the contacts are stuck. Can I open the can and "adjust" them or...

has compression, spark, and fuel but won't fire / start - cam chain issue?

Agree with Jan. Double check that you are on the compression stroke with a wire down the hole.

    Tentative carb ID layout

Thanks guys for all the great info. Obviously, bike minutia is new to me. I'm a VW guy (see sig pic) and understand the production/MY date as VW did this late summer thing too. So '78 SE it is. I believe when my son bought carb kits he ordered for an '80. Would those jets be significantly...

VIN is 2FO-109069. So 7,968th XS (SE or all XS’s?) in 1977.

    Tentative carb ID layout

Well, I was completely wrong! Not sure why I had it in my mind I had seen 1980 on the tag, but this clearly shows it as a 1977 bike. My appologies and thank you for the info. Now to go look up the vin.

has compression, spark, and fuel but won't fire / start - cam chain issue?

I am reading this with much attention, as we are struggling with a 78 or 79 SE with almost the exact issue, with the exception that the left cylinder has strong spark, but the right cylinder is very weak. We got the bike running for about five or 10 minutes and then it just quit and will not...

    Tentative carb ID layout

Thanks. I was given this bike back in the 90's by some neighbors who were going to throw it away. I got it going and rode it down the block a few times and then parked it and it's sat since then. My son (the guy smiling on the bike who wasn't even born when I got it) showed interest and I...

    Tentative carb ID layout

Working on a 1980 S/SG. I understand that '80s should have the chrome top B34 but(...this bike is well-known and complete) it is running BS38 carbs and they look very original to the bike. I know they could have been changed, but this bike is unmolested short of what we think is a...
