grease is good but messy, take it to the servo use their airline, I've got a timber wedge, 2" wide, a foot long & tapering from 1 1/2" to 1/4", pump a bit, move the wedge, pump some more.

1977 XS650, I have had to fit 1mm thick washers between the left calliper & the fork leg to centre the calliper on the rotor, anyone else experienced this anomaly ?

bushings & bearings fore & aft all in good condition & well greased, the feeling is like counter steer, where the bike is leaning left into the bend & you feel the need to push the left hand away (steer right) I am used to the XJ series bikes & they sort of fold into the bend.

I've just started riding this bike & it feels like it wants to 'stand up' in the bends, anyone had this experience ?

Don't know Gary, I thought they were all stockers, it all bolted right up.

What is the best place to place the meter probes to test the output of the generator ?

fit Progressive springs & experiment with different weights of oil.

I think the guy has got a cheek asking that kind of dough for a non runner. You would be crazy to buy it.

I would use the 'lug' method & fit rubber washers between box & lugs.

XJWMX- If you havn't got it nailed within 3 years go do something else, anyway, who would employ you for 10 years while you are still leaning, except, maybe NASA.

It's a smart idea to fit a smaller piece of tube inside to 'gussett' the weld & BIG bevels, if the weld fails you will see a crack, instead of it just dropping off.

Got a lot of clicks on the clock, any idea of work done on the mill?

I found the problem, the clip that holds the black/green the the stator casing was somehow grounding, but no sign of a bare wire, I wrapped the wires with a piece of innertube where the clip fits, no more problem ;o)

I checked the meter probes & yes, 0.6, but this cheap POS has no way to zero.
