I got my valves and guides all cleaned up. I have the stickum dart lapping stick, and compound. I have knowledge of having to tap tap tap spin like hell. tap tap tap spin like hell. When do I add compound and how much and what am I looking for exactly? machine like mating surface?

engine is on the ground down to just case. can I split the case without having to mess with much internal, just lay aside or something. I want to polish the case, but I don't want to mess with the guts too much if I don't have to

having a hell of a time getting the tensioner off. tried a rubber mallet a few good times and wedge and hamer between the surface of the tensioner and cylinder face with no success. is there something maybe to break down the gasket cement between surfaces or a trick you've learned along the way.

my cylinders are in good shape and i just need piston/rings. mikes and central don't sell 1st over or standard. has anyone gone straight to the big bore and have the old pistons in clearance tolerable condition?

2.954 bore/ 2.944 piston. the specs in the clymer manual say within .0039 I'd really rather not have to hone and buy new pistons. can i just get new rings or what. any help and/or advice would be appreciated
