    73 TX 650 Frame reflector

Hi Guys, thanks for the replies... No such luck with a threaded standoff, just the usual crappy frame welds... which I guess leads me to conclude that I have a 72 frame?? Mailman, do you have a pic of your 72 in this area? I would be interested to see if the weld and sleeving is similar in this...

So, a quick update… My package from Hieden tuning finally arrived (2+ months in transit) with the straight carb boots in place of the angled versions, the side covers easily fit. The Heiden boots were a very precise replica of the OEM versions, and allowed me to use the OEM steel boot cover...

    XS1B Texas Resurrection

Hi DogBunny, I placed my order in the third week of March and they shipped with a tracking number at the end of March... Since then... it sat at PostNL for about a month, and it looks like it was probably placed in a container and shipped by sea (by PostNL) at the beginning of May... This is...

    XS1B Texas Resurrection

Yes 5T, the interference is with the flanged section... a straight boot should help greatly, but it still might very tight in there. DogBunny, I bought the set from Heiden tuning €40 (45USD), the only other option that I could find was JBM industries @ 74USD. Despite the fact that I put in my...

    XS1B Texas Resurrection

Hi DogBunny the angled boots will work functionally with the earlier years, but it might cause interference with the side covers due to the downward angle of the boot. I imagine that it would also not line up with a stock airbox. Shown here is my 73 cover which wont seat fully, and interferes...

    Basic sidecar set up?????

Hi, just a general question... would you not take into account the weight of the rider on the bike, and setup the sidecar level to the bikes weighed-down/compressed state?

Hi Bob, Yeah, my daughter the thrill seeker, absolutely adores it... If it were up to her we would park it in the living room so she could play in it... Yes those are windshield mounts, which is the only thing missing on it... Thank fully the 560 and its close cousin the 562 are still well...

    Barn Yard find - 73 TX650

Hi Pete, I wouldn’t doubt that they once offered these, but I couldn’t find any left side switch options that looked the part for me... could be wrong... Hi 5Twins, definitely hanging on to them, but I have a slightly larger fish to fry in the short term...

    Barn Yard find - 73 TX650

So, with Vancouver in a virtual lock-down and kids activities cancelled due to Covid19 I’ve got no excuses as to not provide an update. After sorting out he center stand, next up was the shocks… the bike came with Koni shocks, but unfortunately, they were seized. Reaching into the parts bin I...

73 TX650 Early Dual Calipers – Front Tire Removal

I believe that 74-75 came equipped with the left side lower to accommodate dual brakes for certain markets... the 73 manual does not show a disk brake left lower, but the manual could be wrong-ish or my bike could been built in late 73... My bike also appears to have the 74 style gas cap but...

73 TX650 Early Dual Calipers – Front Tire Removal

Thanks for the suggestion gggGary… seems so easy when someone else points it out for you… So, to test gggGary’s suggestion I removed the offending stud and left the hydraulics connected, disconnected the front fender stay, and moved the left caliper forward… In this position, and with a bit of...

73 TX650 Early Dual Calipers – Front Tire Removal

Hi Fred, I would be happy to get it to the stage where I could dangle it in mid air, but the problem is that I cant rotate the caliper up enough to clear the top mounting stud, without disconnecting the brake hose/line at the caliper... I do however like your suggestion of removing the fender...

73 TX650 Early Dual Calipers – Front Tire Removal

Hi Guys, been a while… I’m attempting to revive and run the dual calipers that my 73 TX650 came with, I’ve re-plumbed the lines with hard-lines going to a splitter and then a flexible line to the master cylinder. So, my question is, how does one remove the front tire/rime without...

    Barn Yard find - 73 TX650

So, it’s been a while… here’s a brief update… I won’t list the excuses as to the slow pace… rest assured they all apply… The front end needed a lot of work… head bearings, triple trees, all of it needed a lot of attention… As part of the front end refurbish I ended up having to 3D print the...
