    Those Shinko 240’s look great!

    Shinko 270 tires

I took my loose mag wheels into a shop and had them do the Shinko 270’s the first time, and they picked out the correct tubes for me. All I brought them was the wheels with old tires on and the two new tires. I had assumed (incorrectly) that the tires wouldn’t need tubes because the mags I had...

Rear Wheel Tight, Not Spinning Easily

Okay, so I did an All Balls wheel bearing ‘upgrade’ on a rear disc mag wheel, because the stock bearings were a little chunky rolling. I reinstalled (via bench vice and some wood blocks) the top-hat looking reducer sleeve, the inner guide sleeve that is between the wheel bearings, and installed...

    Shinko 270 tires

My back is messing with me also...it doesn’t help that I’ve been doing my own tire swap (trying to save a little time and hassle...has been a giant time suck and a hassle). Well, I hope your back feels better.

    Shinko 270 tires

The turning seems to be quicker with the lowered front. Also, the kickstand angle changed for this bike, but I have a clamp-on kickstand and was able to adjust where it deploys, the stock kickstand lug was fubarred.

Sold / Found / Inactive - Shinko 270 tire set

I have a set of Shinko 270 tires that have about 2000 miles on them from new. I decided to go with 712’s instead for the more modern tread and tubeless design. The date codes on the Shinko 270 tires are: Front 4.00 x 19 (0817), Rear 5.00 x 16 (1017). I have been running these tires on the...

    Shinko 270 tires

Hello, sorry about chiming in late here...but I too went with the Shinko tires, the 270 sawtooth tread pattern. I actually brought my loose wheels in to a shop to have the old cracked weather-checked tubeless tires swapped for the 270’s. Kind of weird, but they had to be installed with tubes...

    oil capacity

Too true. Thank you for the response. I wound up bringing ole “Crankee” into the house for a few days, to warm up the oil...I also put a heat dish space heater on him for a few hours. Changed out the oil for 10W-40, kicked it over and it started no problems! After letting it warm up, took him...

    oil capacity

Very Well, I’ll drain and refill with the 10W-40, (and hell..Ill even warm up the sump first as gggGary suggested, with the hair dryer, to see if that will allow me to start it easier, to warm the oil for draining). As for the fill line, do you think I should keep it where it is? With the...

    oil capacity

1980 Special. I just did my second oil change (since ownership) and I think I may have over filled it. What is weird though, is that the bike seems to be running fine. However, and this is why Im posting, now it takes me forever to get it to start with the kicker. It’s a battery-delete...

    John Underwood (xsjohn)

Yes, that’s a good point. Thanks for the input whynot2. The thing I like about XS John’s kit, is they are “plug & play”, unlike the others which require other mods in addition to installing the needles. I think the Canadian needles require the Canadian emulsion tubes (needle jets with more...

    John Underwood (xsjohn)

On a little intuition, and out of respect for an XS God, thought I should ask before just acting. Maybe this has already been done, I’m not sure and apologize if my question has already been (being) addressed : / I scored an unused set of XSJohn’s BS34 Jet Needles with original packaging and...

Comment by 'thumps' in media 'seat mod 1.1'

I have that same seat. I shaved/shaped the original foam, making it as flat as possible and slicing a bit from the front, where it used to touch the gas tank. I got it to a point where I needed an expert to finish it. So I took it to Mac's upholstery and they made a custome tuck n'roll pleated...

    Coil testing? primary terminal?

Hey all, I know I'm chiming in late here, my bike is a former 1980 TCI bike (in the process of PAMCOPETE/HHB PMA upgrade) and has just the one dual output coil with one red wire and one orange wire for primary wires. To test my primary circuit do I put the multimeter leads as follows: red to red...
