For Sale - 1975 Yamaha XS650-6700 original miles

I hate to sell this beautiful motorcycle. This is a rebuilt 1975 Yamaha XS650b. I have a lot of information on this, but I am not going to write it all on here unless specifics are asked. One thing I will say it is a reversed paint scheme - many of the original chromed parts are now painted...

    voltage regulator/rectifier

It is a 75 xs650b. Wiring as far as i know and what i have been told is fine. I found a regulator from a 75 on ebay for 20 bucks. Havent purchased yet but it is becoming an option. Does the fact that the after market part is a regulator/ rectifier have anything to do with this? Meaning they...

    voltage regulator/rectifier

OK...the bike is now at the shop, the stator has been tested and seems fine. It just doesn't seem to make sense that the bike was only putting out 11.5 volts with the old regulator, but it started first try every time. Now there is no spark with the new regulator/rectifier. This is driving me...

    voltage regulator/rectifier

Yes all connections are correct...bike is not sparking. Also when key was in off position one of the turn signal started blinking. All tests only show that the voltage regulator was not working. This week I plan to take regulator off of my friends 77 xs650 and see if my bike will work.

    voltage regulator/rectifier

Has anyone had a problem installing a voltage regulator...from mikes xs? I bought one had it installed and the bike is not sparking. Has anyone had this problem? People think it could be the stator but bike was working fine before...just not putting out proper voltage. Posted via Mobile

    tail light

I will definitly check the forum before buying next time. I thought it was a vibration issue at first but it definitly seems to be the voltage regulator. Thanks

    tail light

I have a 75. Wish i had known about saving money. I would have never thought about a dodge dart regulator. I will consult you next time.

Also. it is putting out about 11.5 volts not 14 when we tested it.

    tail light

The regulator looks stock...it is old as hell if not. We ordered one today for 100. i took a long ride today and had to push my bike a few blocks to charge up the battery. It was 75 out today here in richmond. Couldnt resist a long ride.

I am using the 1157 bulb, but tried lower voltage bulb as well. Some friends said it was not putting out the right amount of charge. The regulator is really old, not sure what it is.

Figured out that it was the voltage - is not putting out the proper charge, so I guess I am getting a new regulator. Hopefully no more blown tail lights, and a working brake light!! My battery has been staying fully charged though...I have not had to use a battery tender for months, hopefully...

So now the brake light wont work. We have checked voltage and switches. Could the safety switch have anything to do with this? The safety switch from the stop light checker to the tail light? Can you bypass this?
