    Carb replacement, again!

I started with what you see at the beginning of the thread, and I've now got to here. I much prefer the spoked wheels, more in keeping with the Rickman style, and the next thing is to get a "Desert" tank at 12 litres, because the one on the bike is only 5 litres!

    Rear drum brake

You can plainly see in posts 3, 19 and 21, that the cams in those pictures are nothing like the one above. Maybe the cams above are the ones with the dimple mark? Even the one above would work, just a hell of a lot less progressively!

    Rear drum brake

I think I'll probably need to take you up on that please, because I can't find one over here. I wonder how much the post would be?

    Let's See The XS's

This is a Wasp Motor Cycles Rickman, they've been building them for over 30 years. I'm in the process of changing to Yamaha XS 650 alloy spoked wheels, the exhaust is now grey, and I'm fitting a GPS speedo/revcounter. Below is my friends 73? XS 650

    Rear drum brake

OK you want pics! I bought the Laverda cheaply in France a few years ago. People on here think the XS 650 is a robust bike, well, Laverda built tractors as their main business, and they used that philosophy on their bikes. These were the fastest bikes of their day, 140 mph, and very reliable...

    Rear drum brake

Having thought about this, I just don't buy what your suggesting. It would mean that when the brake is off, the cam end of one brake shoe would have to be further away from the drum than the other one. So having done that you then make an asymmetric cam to compensate . Why would you do that...

    Rear drum brake

    Built in the Southern Hemisphere!

    Rear drum brake

Then do I turn the cam round, assuming in the right way round after all these years, and how do you tell?

    Rear drum brake

I bought a Rickman XS650 which use the XS engine and various other XS bits. It came with alloy wheels, but I didn't like them and bought some XS650 alloy rims. Easy to fit, the problem is the reaction arm for the rear drum, and the brake rod. I've turned the drum upside down and put the rod and...

    Carb replacement, again!

Smuggy, I didn't build the bike, I just bought it, and I am changing it to how I want it. As I was working with the carbs on Saturday,I do think that the throttle cable is standard though, and it works fine.

    Carb replacement, again!

I've just bought a Rickman built from a donor 78 SE. The bloke I bought it from, built it and never rode it, in fact he did 2, and literally never rode either! He likes building bikes, but not riding them. Each to his own I suppose. The engine is bog standard, except for the pipes which have...
