Yeah, rare to have a loose clip. I have Teflon buttons in my HD that I rebuilt 2 years ago, quite an expensive build - they cannot come loose lol. Big bore will be more fun anyhow. Looking at your mill it has auto down-feed - will your bore the cylinders yourself?

A great benefit of the Trumpets is that they use the OBD2 diagnostics port. So the ability to connect your phone via BlueTooth etc for diagnostics and resets of trouble codes without having to visit the dealer is a great benefit - something all bike manufacturers should be forced to do/use.

As mentioned above by Ratranger, Shindengen is the go to for Mofset reg/rect and can easily be found on wrecked Japanese bikes. Personally I run a Shindengen FHO20AA and have had no issues. These have been salvaged off of wrecked Honda CB500R's. Both have been in excellent cond and have cost...

Correct - 1000RPM idle is good. Lowering the idle way down just chops out the crankpin.

GS = 8 valve motor GSX = 16 valve motor for most parts of the world. Apparently the US continued to use the GS badge for its 16 valve Suzukis (just to confuse the issue). See HERE for development changes from GS to GSX (not GSX-R)

Bob, pretty much yes. All the "auto" scooters work with the belt system (unless you have an old 3sp Vespa). They still have a centrifugal clutch system, however, the CVT is the part that is able to change the drive ratio when riding. See here for a bit more insight on their operation and main...

They have air ride suspension with an onboard compressor - think lowrider car. Note the small 1" angle struts protruding from the frame beneath the transmission area. These are what the bike sits on when on display and not being ridden (if at all).

Have a complete 34mm front end that I was thinking of selling. Forks and trees...chrome is excellent, lowers need a polish. Off of a 76 C. Forks were rebuilt a few years ago and had re-chromed stanchions installed. New seals recently. Let me know if you want pics.

Machined up some anti-reversion inserts for the 650 bobber. Its running 1 3/4" 750 pipes (I'll fab some 1 5/8" pipes one day...or fit my 1 5/8" 2-1 again). Will see if there's any improvement, had to adjust a few dimensions to suit. Find information on the AR inserts here.
