Question about vacuum style carbs..... A 1979 XS650 Special with BS38 carbs is leaking out gas into the left airbox while not running. Let's say the floats are stuck/set incorrectly. Should the petcocks NOT allow gas to pass through because there is NO vacuum pulling gas out of the tank? And...

Just figured out why gas was leaking out of left carb on my newly acquired '79 XS650. Wasnt leaking gas when i bought it. I even test rode it and it rode good and hard. No oil leaks, good looking bike. Put it in the back of the truck and all was well for 200 miles. Stopped to get gas in truck...

Can anyone give me a head's up on the order all the parts of the valves go BACK into place? And the direction of the valve stem seals, valve spring lock, etc. Oh.....this is for a 1977 XS650........:thumbsup:

Wanted: Your used stock Exhaust valve with collet set (2). Just tore down top-end and it has a bent valve. Everything else looks good. Pending a sale/buy already.....thank you, for looking.

First of all, thanks to all who have helped out with the technical aspects of the XS. My 77 was found sunk down in the mud, past the bottom of the frame and SOOOO many dirt dobber nests on/in it. Motor out of the frame and the frame looks good. And yes, checked the bottom of the frame. No cracks...
