    Seats from Vietnam?

The XS is taking a winter nap. As I mentioned in my post from March, I was very impressed with the quality and fit of the seat I bought from DayTrader. It was comfortable to ride as well.

    Seats from Vietnam?

I took a chance and bought a seat for my '78 Special and was surprised at the fit and quality of the seat. The hinges and lock on the seat pan matched perfectly with those on the bike. Attachment of cover to seat pan seems well done and sturdy. I had several options for seat and piping colors...

I've used Milkstone milk tank cleaner and it worked well. Contains phosphoric acid. Available at Tractor Supply. Etches (chelates?) also.

    Help Needed Identifying Tank

FYI - I checked the capacity yesterday and it's 14+ liters - almost 15 liters to overflow it. The XS400 tank specs I found show 14 liters.

Wanted - Looking for a tank artist.

Hey J I'm not sure if it would be proper to discuss the pricing on the tank on the forum since I'm sure the painter determines his prices per job. Is hIs there a way I can contact you off this forum? As I mentioned, I'm thinking the tank is from a XS400. Search for "Tank" in the forums and If...

Wanted - Looking for a tank artist.

LeaveJay I was looking for a tank for my XS650 Special with the dame paint scheme as yours. I recently bought a tank from a custom painter thinking I could make it work on my bike. The painter was honestly uncertain what the tank was from so I took a chance. It turned out it wasn't an XS650...

    Help Needed Identifying Tank

Thanks gggGary and jpdevol - I think we're closing in on the identity. Certainly looks like the underside matches the photos of the XS400 Special tank including the mounting tongue! That is a very extensive and useful list jpdevol Thank you!

    Help Needed Identifying Tank

To clarify - That photo with the part number attached is from a listing I found on ebay advertised as a '80-'81 XS850. I was pointing out the differences from the tank I'm trying to identify.

    Help Needed Identifying Tank

Thanks for the reply. I checked photos of tanks on ebay and those listed as XS850 Specials seem to have a slimmer back end and the rear mounting tab sticks out more. The XS850 doesn't seem to match either and it has the cup front mounts rather than the rubber bumpers. Petcock position looks...

    Help Needed Identifying Tank

I recently purchased a tank with the hopes that it would fit my '78 XS 650 Special. The tank was being sold by the guy who painted it and was unsure what model/year it came from. He was told it was from an '83 XS650 and he painted it with '75 graphics. The tank won't work on my '78 but now...
