Suggestions for running shop air lines?

For the pressure to ID of hose check out this chart (link to site with more details). This PDF from a separate site is also a pretty good source of info. As for the dryer - I would suggest plumbing in a $50 or $100 desiccant dryer directly after a medium to large standard water filter. The...

Make Offer - 1978 xs650 Rephased Chop in SoCal

With great sadness I am thinking about selling my bike to catch up on things. I have been through every nut and bolt on this thing at least twice. It's got about 3k on the bike and much lower on the multiple rebuilds that I have been through the motor and drivetrain. It's no longer a...

Do you need Oil in your Motorcycle to do a Compression Test?

If you are talking about a fresh rebuild/hone then I would say no in my personal opinion. I always give a good coverage skim of assembly lube on my cylinder walls with a lint free rag. Until the rings seat for good you don't need all that heat from dry metal. If you are talking a used motor...

    One tooth off?

In my experience if it was a tooth off you wouldn't be able to get that thing over 60. I have ridden a 650 that was a tooth off and it was a hard start and when running had to be going downhill and pulled by a truck to get it above 55mph. So I am leaning on other things. Maybe shitty valve...

Do you need Oil in your Motorcycle to do a Compression Test?

Yeah. I would put oil in the motor. In theory you don't need any else you have blow by on the pistons . . . . but metal on metal is NEVER good no matter how low the RPMs. If you are talking a fresh rebuild then assembly lube the cylinders. If it's a motor thats been running recently (within a...

    fork seals

You've prob already done it, but if you haven't I typically use engine assembly lube for this sort of this. That stuff is a good to have in there, will seal tight and wipes up pretty good after you get it on there.

    Anybody got a 3-D printer?

I know I am little late to the party, but there are great 3D printers online. Checkout this site http://www.makexyz.com and search bigger cities. People on there print from wood to plastic to metal and the price is pretty cheap.
