    My once a year update...

For the past 6 years I've been tinkering with my XS every winter so that I have it back on the road for the riding season. This winter I powder coated/ polished the wheels. I figure 2 more winters and I'll be done...I think. Here's some pics of my updates...

    72 cafe project

The top bearing will not seat all the way down as you think it would but it is fine. I was cursing Mikes XS for hours but it works fine. Just be sure to pack as much grease in there so when (not if) water gets in there-- you'll have less chance of corrosion

    XS2 street tracker --champion style

So I've had my xs2 for a few years and ride it spring/summer/fall and have been working on it each winter. I think I'm one more winter away from finishing (wheels and motor). I just got my tank and seat pan (that took almost all winter to build) painted by a good friend and I think he knocked...

Eliminate Handlebar Vibration, Kill It DEAD with a Fake Snake!

Here's what I did and seemed to help: I took a can of foam called "Great Stuff" and filled the bar completely so it was oozing out of both ends. The idea is to help soak some of the vibration. Once the foam was cured (takes a day or two) I carved the foam out about an inch from the ends and...

After powdercoating the frame -- now she wont start

Retiredgentleman --- you nailed it! I had the coils crossed. I found this out after I spent a few hours shaving every contact point on the frame and motor mounts. Once I switched coils she fired right up. Next time I'll mark my coils (L/R) when I take everything off. Thanks for everyones...

After powdercoating the frame -- now she wont start

Right on. Is this a case where it will show spark with the plugs outside the cylinders but when put into the cylinders under load -- nothing?

After powdercoating the frame -- now she wont start

Am I right to think that the main ground connects to the upper motor mount bolt? I didn't grind any of the powdercoating off where these mounts connect -- should I?

After powdercoating the frame -- now she wont start

I've run out of ideas so I come to you guys. I have a '72 XS2 that I stripped down over the winter and had the frame powder coated. Previous to that -- the bike ran perfect all last year with no problems at all. So now I have a problem -- after getting the bike back together -- she will not...

Just a bit of fun: What is the origin of your user name?

A son was curious of how he got his name so he asked his Indian father -- The father explained-- when your mother gave birth-- me look out TePee and first thing me saw would be child's name. When your sister was born--me looked out and saw a Sunflower and so it is. When your older brother was...

Aluminum rims vs OEM steel rims

She's an XS2 and the rims are spot on true with very little rust and I do have the suspension done already-- rear I went with the longer swinger with the later year xs's with progressive shock-- front I have a longer spacer with heavier oil and the handling is "OK" I'd say. By noticeable I mean...
