We enjoy the birds and enjoy building odd houses and baths. Here in the Midwest we are experiencing no rain, drought conditions.Birds love to bath.9 parts h20-1 part vinegar is a simple bath cleaning solution. So many bird seeds and mixtures available along with some old mixtures for attracting and keeping the birds coming back.A good universal, reasonably priced food is;Cardinal Songbird mix from Farm&Fleet.Enjoy!

We have been actively feeding birds at our place for the last 3 years. Entertaining to watch them while we are having a coffee. We feed them cracked sunflower seeds. They are expensive but are mess free because the outer shells have already been removed. Loaded into a squirrel and coon proof feeder, this attract cardinals, wrens, sparrows, finches, wood peckers, chickadees, unwanted starlings and grackles. Good entertainment for we old folk. 😀

We had some little ones building nests under our pagola, so we left them alone to raise their young. Next season and another pair moved in, so we also left them alone. Then they started killing each other's young by tossing them out of their nest. I tried rescuing the chicks and placing them back in their nest, but the killing continued. So next season, I dismantled their nests as they built them. No more dead young littering the ground under their nests.

Years ago we put out a bird feeder which promptly attracted a huge flock of pigeons who took it over and made a mess of our yard. So then we tried a bird bath, that was a treat, all birds love a bird bath and as a plus, here in our Arizona winters , it attracted a lot of migrating birds that we don’t usually get to see, such as gold finches, cardinals and orioles.
