I'm deleting everything electrical off my bike except what I need to make the motor run and charge and then will make my own wiring harness for the lighting etc.
My question then is this - TC has a wiring harness (plug and play) that only provides for the bike to start and charge, you basically remove all the stock wiring harness then plug in their wiring harness to get the bike running and from there you make up everything else or at least thats what I was led to believe. Has anyone used their wiring harness for this application and is it worth the 40.00
Thanks
Mark

I just bought a few colors of 16ga wire from the automotive supply store (Autozone, O'Reilly's, etc) and ran my own circuits to a fuse box. That harness isn't really necessary IMO. Searching 'wiring diagram' will yield many results here as well. I attached the diagram that I am using, with a PAMCO and Hugh's PMA, kick only.

If you want to keep the correct colors, you can buy a complete harness from MikesXS for around $80, then just cut what you need. I got 3 chopper harness' out of one. Plus there are connectors on it. Just makes sure you use solder no matter what.

Some companies sell simplified harness' for $90 and they don't even come with connectors. And you still need to modify them depending on your particular needs.

I can't recommend this wire or retailer enough. Go here and buy this marine grade wire. It's $0.18/foot and comes in many colors. It blows away radio shack and auto parts store wire. Comes in other sizes, but the 16g is all you'll need for a motorcycle charging system.

This would have been good to know about a month ago... hah. Ah well, there's always next time.

That wiring diagram needs to be gone. Having the fuse to the capacitor serves no purpose  but if the fuse blows or just comes loose, the regulator will go ape shit and fry the electrical system  , including the PAMCO.:yikes:

Here is how it should be:

Management: Please locate and delete the offending wiring diagram before someone gets hurt.

The way you corrected it is actually how I wired mine. I forgot to point that out when I reposted it here. Thanks.

On any wiring the main fuse goes between the power source and main switch. If it's anywhere else it's not doing it's job. The main fuse protects the rest of the system.
On this diagram the PMA and cap are the power source. If you swapped in a battery for thye cap, the PMA and the battery would be the power source.

I think both of these diagrams are confusing because they don't show the TWO positive leads on the capacitor. I think pamcopete was thinking that it looked like the fuse was BEFORE the capacitor, whereas I mounted mine after the capacitor, but before the key ignition. That way if the fuse blows, no power gets to the rest of the system, including the PAMCO ignition.

A wiring diagram is how things go together as far as the electrical is concerned. They don't show how things actually are. So it won't show both terminals on the cap.
