Buying a new harness is not going to make this much easier. You will still be left with ALL of the sub-harnesses that will STILL need to be sorted out and repaired.

I really don't see you going forward without learning to read diagrams, test wires, repair connections, it aint that hard, and it's something you can use the rest of your life.

Those service manuals are available for free download yet. Hard copy on flea bay for cheap too. There are full pullouts with cable routing and component ID charts.
Only wire it needs to run is battery to coil hot. The day I got Period piece out of the van I fired it up with a shot of ether and a battery to coil hot jumper wire. Jumped the terminals on the starter solenoid cause I'm lazy, brrrooommmm. Then I got to work.

I think myself and several others suggested this plan of attack way back near the start of this thread. Even to the point of doing it with out the carbs in place if for no other reason to have a little faith that when other things were taken care of it will run and not have a rod coming out the bottom!

I spent 3 hours yesterday taking pics and ,posting up a how to, i saw you were getting bogged down with questions and answers.............Today you want this thread deleted and remove all of the input received from all the members who contributed to help with all the problems you have been having..............

Don't know what happened Ron..............I removed yesterdays post...............

Robin - if you could mail a copy to me, I can scan it and post it as a .pdf.

You have my address.

Pete

Pete, I don't mind scanning and emailing you a copy. It was out here as public info for a short time, but it is Skulls intellectual property and should probably only be reposted with his blessing.

Absolutely correct Robin. May I suggest that you send the scan to Skull and perhaps he would be good enough to repost it.

Pete

I wanted it deleted because I know you are tired of answering questions. I have plenty to do. I will figure it out. Thanks for your help. I said from my very first post I may post too many things. I proved right. I will refer to the tech section or google.Take care.

It's kid of funny but the OP doesn't really "Own" the Thread after awhile, everyone who participates also has an interest in it. It's rare that a thread gets deleted around here. There are things to be learned from this thread.....

Is it just me or is it more and more typical these days that people only think about themselves and NOT that the information found in ALL these post and threads may be able to help MANY other people. Symptom of a larger social issue?
I think its just you. For one let me get this perfectly clear.I did not want all the information given to me,.especially the drawings of circuits that were put up or the instructions about the voltmeter, if thats what its called deleted..What I wanted deleted was me.Not everyone else or the information.Anyone that wanted to teach illustrate clarify great. But i didnt need to be in the conversation any longer.Every iota of a wiring harness has been covered aftrer 17 pages. i have been mildly chided twice with phrases like You really need to learn how to read these schematics, and You need to learn how to use one of these meters.I took those suggestions to heart.I work in a highly technical field.often times when some huge change in the delivery of care is being made due to some pencil pushing administrator we have to endure hours and hours of videos, tests, powerpoints, etc. It does zero good. You have to get out and do it.Then it makes sense.I am ready to do it.I dont need any more teaching because it will not make sense until I try it for myself. But the preliminary groundwork has been well laid by some of the members.I know there are some like 5 twins max pete, gggGary, and some others that helped tremendously.I am starting to understand the circuits,at least which color goes where.I have a few degrees. Not that anyone will be impressed. But one is teaching.Texas a and m uses a bullseye. The center is must know.the next ring is should know. The final is nice to know.

If I have an arrow in my chest, I dont need to know who shot it, what was its velocity and trajectory and what company made it.I just need to get the arrow out of my chest. Thus and in conclusion I am going to do the must know stuff now.I will try to not come back on this subject.Hey, it was kind of boring here till I came around. I started the threads about ugly and beautiful bikes that people seem to be enjoying posting on. So there.

And the forum is just like a classroom, 25 people and 25 different takes on what has been presented and what is the best way to proceed. Ron it's all good, you are WANTED here. Take the advice you like and expect to hear some you don't like. Over the course of my life I've often found the advice I didn't like had the answer I needed.

ok.The thread is deleted.I suppose it isnt like on my computer where you can restore and it doesnt automatically become permanently deleted. too late now. Henceforth I will just stop adding my comments which will accomplish what I had intended.I also am used to having a sent column where I can retrieve things. The delete button is final here it seems.I was going to post some of what I had learned that might have helped someone else who has had the problems I have had. After it was approved by some admin person here.

Hi Ron,
the way I reckon it works is that you can edit your own stuff, including changing a string's main title so long as it's one you started and you can edit or delete anything that you posted.
What you can't do is edit or delete other folks posts, even those in a string that you started.
There's too many enthusiasts on this list who'd gleefully mess with other folks posts if only they could only get at them to do so.
