Dude, that transit looks awesome! I bet it would give a modern GPS a run for its money!
Suspect as you do that it's not the right tripod for the transit. Cool piece!Around Christmas, I gave a friend one of my bike jacks and a gun.
Not really expecting any reciprocation, especially a generous one,
he responded to my love of displaying old tools by gifting me his vintage Dietzgen transit.
What patina !

I'd like to set the two pieces up, but the connector piece is missing. The threads are not the same diameter, one being 39 mm and the other 37.6 mm.

Haven't had much luck with searches for this piece.
Yup, I might have to accept that factSuspect as you do that it's not the right tripod for the transit. Cool piece!
Nah I just have a 40 year old David White.Yup, I might have to accept that fact
This is going to call for some mechanical creativity to fabricate a joiner.
Just the thing to keep my cerebral cortex active during these winter months
Is that a pic of your transit, Gary?
I'm noticing the variation in models, now, as I search.Dietzgen changed the mount a bunch of times over the years.
Dude, you have no idea! My house was built by an "engineer", and there's very few square corners in this place! (and it wasn't done for acoustics) Built in the '70s, the floors and stairs squeak, interior doors are "iffy" and I did one big-time foundation repair already. But don't get me wrong...there's nothing wrong with this place I can't fix for $50-60K...First I'd check to see just how out-of-level my house is
NOPE.....It's Richard Petty ...........
I kept an old 16" Goodyear that was on my 78 when I got it! Maybe should hang it on the wall.......Not sure if this is garage art or not. But I think it looks kind of cool for now. They are off of my 72. Always liked the Eagles plus they looked good.

Not sure this is the place for this.... but Sue was cleaning out the hall closet today... prolly the first cleaning in 10-20 yrs. and ran across this. A stipple drawing I did back in 85. She's gonna find me a frame and I'll hang it here in the garage.... Garage art... finally.

Thanks DE. Yeah... as you can tell, one of my favorites also. First flew in 1964... retired in 1990. On her last flight to the Smithsonian she set a new record... LA to Washington DC in 1hr. 4 minutes. To this day, she's never been bested. One of my Top Ten favorite planes too.
