What have you done to your XS today?

Yes go by book, typically when set correctly the adjusting tangs are near to flush with the rest of the float plate. Often some p.o. will will have cranked em down to "Stop a leak".
perfect thank you. I know that the previous owner adjusted the carbs so maybe he followed the wrong settings.. thank you

The SG had developed a intermittent miss and it peaked last night. We made it to and from McD's fine dinning establishment in the dark so, I decided to sleep on it and check things out in the daylight. Checked wiring for ignition and it was OK. Checked the wires at the coil and then the Spark plug wires. Plug ends were tight and passed the tug test. Coil end, Lt side popped right out. Screwed the wire back in and checked with a tug test. All was tight. RT side was tight and passed tug test. Took her out to make a lunch date with the wife and she didn't miss a beat. Gotta love free quick fixes.

Went for a quick ride today after replacing the exhaust on my car. Bike ran and rode great. Grips were delivered today and the bars will arrive tomorrow; I may work on painting the risers tomorrow. Hopefully the remodel will be complete by next weekend.

Alright, just got back from a shakedown around town. It’s gorgeous out here, around 68 and sunny. Everybody and their mom is out and about, probably seen 50 or more bikes today. Obviously haven't painted the risers yet or swapped out the instrument buckets, but I did buy gold paint. This new profile looks really Good to me. Got a compliment from a guy at a light on an all black ‘14 Bonnie. I do have to scootch forward more on the seat; it would actually be a lot comfier if I had forward controls. Really liking the look, especially with the new tires. I think gaiters will definitely add to it. I also ordered a brown fork bag to carry around some tools, which will probably add to the look.

Work progresses on the '82 Heritage Special I purchased recently.

Carb rebuilding has become so routine that I'm actually enjoying the process.

However, both of the float pins in these BS34's were intensely jammed, despite apparently being unmolested since '82.

It took about 2 hours each to get these pins out.
Soaked in Kroil for 3 days.
Then today, applied heat, then vibration (tapping), and more Kroil. And repeated over and over and over.
It took a lot of tools to pull them out:

Replaced the 132.5 mains with 135's,
and increased the idle fuel mixture from 2.5 to 3
..and by 2:00, they were done.......

....and I was able to get out on Jimi and take a spin for an ice cream. :)

I like the look of this bike. Is that a Texavina seat? Brown with matching grips?

Yep. I like it!

Decided to polish the aluminum side covers and rocker covers while I'm sitting around waiting for engine parts to come in. felt like I did pretty alright for my first ever attempt at polishing something. just used a bench grinder, Mother's Mag and Aluminium polish, a cheap cloth wheel from harbor freight, and some carb cleaner and paper towels to clean everything up once I was done. Also figured I'd shine up my old silver ring and that came out cleaner than I've ever seen it, even better than the day I bought it.

Yep. I like it!
It sure is! I forgot to get a closeup of the new biltwell grips. Funny you should ask about the texavina seat, another member just asked me what I thought about it; I love it and definitely recommend them for the price point. Like I told him, I haven't put any miles on in the stock saddle, so I can’t compare comfort, but I’ve put around 10k on this saddle, and it lived outdoors for one winter, so I’d say it’s held up pretty well!

Just picked up this beauty yesterday. Date of manufacture is 5/76. No title. Nothing known about condition of bike. PO is an 80 year old guy with Alzheimers, who used to race dirt track (AMA Pro # 49). This is not his race bike but a bike he started 8 years ago with the intent of getting back into racing!!!! Love his attitude. Great guy. Damn shame about the Alzheimers.

Advice and parts needed and welcome!

I messed up putting the crankcase cover. I couldn’t get it to sit flush towards the back and I assumed i could seat it but slowly tightening the bolts little by little. The collar pin isn’t the issue. Any ideas? Also I
